The walks leave from outside Mackey’s Bar, Gathabawn in the direction of the Laois border and Cullohill Mountain and back to Gathabawn for a very welcome cup of hot Glanbia Fresh Soup. Please view the Events page for news on upcoming walks.
Road Walk; 4 Miles (suitable footwear): People will begin in Gathabawn, take the road by the church, do a road ring of Cullahill Mountain, with Limestone Lad country to their left as they walk. Allowing them to experience outstanding views of the Irish Midlands, Slieve Blooms and the Devil’s Bit.
Hill Walk: 8 Miles approx (suitable footwear): This is eight miles and people will take the same scenic route as the road walk and proceed to the top of Cullahill Mountain, take a right hand turn, as signed posted, at Gurteen-na-hilla, boreen to top of Binn-na-Ne and enjoy scenic views of Laois and Kilkenny and back to Gathabawn as signed posted for a very welcome cup of hot Glanbia fresh soup. For this walk people are advised to have suitable footwear for hill, farm and forestry walking.
